A Lesson on Learning

Deschooling/Detoxing: a period of time during which a child is adjusting to being out of school. Homeschoolers often recommend that a child be allowed a period of time to deschool before the parent begins imposing new requirements.

Homeschooling: an education alternative to institutional schooling. Parents and children assume control of their learning. It is a complete substitute for institutional schooling. Homeschooling is also sometimes referred to as home-schooling, home learning or home education.

Roadschooling: refer to the definition of homeschooling- except that roadschooling is done on the road

Unschooling: this is sometimes referred to as "interest-initiated" education. The parent's role is to encourage and support the children as they learn from real-life experience and by pursuing their own goals.
